5a.xyz and Coke Fires, after Burchfield, are components of a series that critically investigate perspective construction through painted images of the post-industrial landscape. 5a.xyz resists modern perspectival tradition, rejects the horizon line, and utilizes abstraction to create a sensuous space suspended in disarray. Coke Fires, after Burchfield, conversely exposes perspectival construction through clear delineations of ground and horizon over an altered translation of a Charles Burchfield painting.
